The World Vets Team Cup is an extra bit of fun at The World Vets weekend, set for July 19 and 20 at the famous Farleigh Castle circuit in England.

It gives you the chance to team up with some mates, see how you do against other teams and hopefully, if you qualify for the race, join up with a pro rider to take on the other qualifying teams.

Qualifying points are earned during your first two normal races, so this isn’t a separate event you have to make any adjustments for. The only extra race is if you qualify for the Cup race.

Give your team a name, ride in the same colours, maybe even get a team sponsor – they’ll get their name and logo in the programme. So, good fun, good banter and maybe some bragging rights!

Richard Wood explains the concept: The first two races on Saturday, they will be qualification for the World Vets Team Cup (which runs on the Sunday). This race will be brand new, and I don’t think anyone has done anything like this.

It is for riders who are entered into the other races, and they pay an extra 50 pounds to join this extra race. You can have one 40-year-old, and then the rest of the team can be made up of any other class, be it the over 50 class or over 60s or even over 70s, if you like, it doesn’t matter.

A three-man team were you can get a sponsor or simply just name your team as these will be put in the programs, we will need entries as soon as possible for all teams and information on how to enter are on the website Worldvetsmotorcross.com .

Whichever team finish top ten on the Saturday qualifier can race the team race on the Sunday. The interesting twist for the team’s race on the Sunday, as the qualified teams line up on the gate, they get to pick a name out of a hat, and they get to pick a Pro rider.

So, you could be riding with Jeff Emig, Mike Brown, Doug henry, Kurt Nicoll, Tommy Searle or somebody of that level in your team on Sunday. We will also have all the Pro riders in one race, which is great, because normally, they are in different groups, because they are all different ages.

Here are the rules.

Each team will have three vets’ riders.

You can ride any bike.

Minimum age for entry is 40. You can only have a maximum of one rider from the 40– 49 age group. The other two riders must be 50+ or all three riders can be 50+

Your first two races on Saturday in your normal class will be your qualifying points total.

The top ten teams with the most qualifying points will be in the Cup race will which take place on Sunday.

If you make the Cup race you will pick from a hat to discover who your team pro rider will be

Teams will be placed together on the starting gate.

Entry is £50 per team and trophies will be awarded to the top three teams So, get your entry in and who knows, you could be lining up alongside Jeff Emig, Jamie Dobb or one of the other great pro riders at this year’s World Vets MC Cup!
