Former AMA supercross and motocross champion, Cooper Webb, is heading down under to line-up against rivals Jett & Hunter Lawrence in three weeks time, inside Marvel Stadium, in Melbourne, Australia.

Webb, a Monster Energy Star Racing Yamaha rider, finished a close second in the 2024 AMA 450SX Supercross Championship to overall winner Jett Lawrence and is looking for redemption this month. The 28-year-old is determined to spoil the Aussie duos fairy-tale homecoming at the rebooted AUSX Open. Pre-empting a highly anticipated battle with the Lawrence brothers, Webb stressed his intent to win at Marvel Stadium in front of a huge crowd.

“When you go to Australia and race their top guys it’s no joke, the Australian crowds are electric. The vibe and atmosphere will be incredible,” said Webb. “It would be awesome to win especially with Jett & Hunter there – any time I beat them is great, but it would be cool to do it in their own country. I am friends with Jett and have a lot of respect for him but am confident in my ability – I’m going there to win. We know Jett is a generational talent – he’s the full package. Equally Hunter is in great form right now and will be hard to beat as well and no doubt he will want to prove a point at home – but I’ll be ready for the challenge. Whatever happens on the night, I know it will be intense and hard-fought racing between us all – the Aussie fans are in for a treat!”

Webb joins Jett & Hunter Lawrence, along with Scottish star & reigning Australian Supercross Champion Dean Wilson as starters for the rebooted AUSX Open, together with Australia’s leading riders and more international stars who are still to be announced.

AUSX Open Director, Kelly Bailey commented on the addition of Webb, a celebrated 2-time World Supercross Champion, in what is quickly becoming a stacked AUSX Open rider line up.

“The AUSX Open’s 2024 rider line-up will absolutely feature the best talent Australian fans have ever had the chance to witness,” said Bailey. “The addition of Webb, who is one of the very few riders to beat Jett this year, is seeking payback for his narrow loss in the 2024 AMA Championship. This rivalry is something every Australian motorsport fan wants to witness live. The stage is set with world-class athletes and now highly anticipated on-track battles, it’s going to be a phenomenal night of supercross.”

Bailey also touched on the response to the returning AUSX Open event and headline announcement of the Lawrence brothers, many say are the two fastest men in the World and there is no doubt, the Australian supporters are going to fill the stadium at the end of this month.

“The reaction has been extraordinary; our pre-sale alone was beyond what we ever could have anticipated with many ticket categories selling out in the first 48 hours – the event is set to sell out in weeks and will be the biggest single day supercross event outside the USA,” said Bailey. “Fans shouldn’t wait, or they will miss out. There is still a range of tickets on offer at Marvel Stadium catering to all ages, budgets and families but the demand is like nothing we’ve seen before. We can’t wait to see Marvel Stadium erupt with 40,000 people on November 30!”

The Aussie brothers and Webb will also battle in Paris this month at the famous Paris supercross, so a busy month for the AMA chargers and it will be interesting to see what comes from the French and Aussie events.
