Two-time World MX2 champion Tom Vialle has won the MX2 qualifier at the Monster Energy Motocross of Nations with a nice win for Team France. He did have some battles with Lucas Coenen but kept control as the Belgian crashed and gave Team France a nice moto win. Second was Coenen and then Simon Langenfelder from Germany.

Tom Vialle: I was excited for that. Lucas is the man in the MX2 championship, him and Kay and I took the holeshot and wanted to win the moto. Lucas caught me, but I pushed again and he made a mistake. The qualification isn’t where you win, but it is important.

MX2 Qualifier

Vialle led the MX2 qualifier ahead of Webster, Webb, Reisulis, Anstie, de Wolf, Yokoyama, Coenen, Haarup, Langenfelder. Webster crashed and dropped to 10th place. Coenen into fifth place and Webster now 15th and another mistake. Adamo 15th and Haarup now 18th.

Three AMA regulars first, second and third, but de Wolf and Coenen coming. Brodie Connolly into sixth for New Zealand. Anstie into second as he passed Webb, but Vialle already 5.2 seconds ahead on lap one. De Wolf moved past Webb and Coenen also looking for a way past the American. Coenen into fourth as Webb is relegated to fifth.

De Wolf and Coenen all over Anstie for second place and on lap one the top ten was Vialle, Anstie, De Wolf, Coenen, Webb, McLellan, Connelly, Langenfelder, Oliver, Yokoyama. Webster really struggling in 23rd and the pressure of MXoN maybe getting to him. De Wolf a nice pass on Anstie to move into second and the gap to Vialle was 7.3 seconds.

Lap three and the lead by Vialle over de Wolf was 6.4 seconds, with Anstie third, then Coenen, Webb, McLellan, Langenfelder, Oliver, Adamo and Yokoyama. Coenen into third as he also passed Anstie and Webb passed by both McLellan and Langenfelder and back in seventh. Vialle opened the gap to 7.3 on lap three and Connelly back in 17th after a good start.

Lap six and the lead by Vialle was 5.4 second and de Wolf and Coenen battling hard for second and third, and then came Anstie, Langenfelder, McLellan, Webb, Oliver, Adamo and Haarup. Webster 17th. Circuit really rutting up as De Wolf made a mistake and Coenen into second and Anstie also passed as De Wolf dropped to fourth place. The gap to Vialle for Coenen was now four seconds and Langenfelder also moved past De Wolf.

Lap seven and the gap was 2.4 and Coenen isn’t just cruising but wants the moto win. It was then suddenly 1.5 seconds, Coenen on rails. Coenen all over Vialle and you have to say, Coenen is just levels above everyone at the moment in this class. Vialle off the track and looking a little rattled as Coenen all over him now.

Two laps to go and its still Vialle vs Coenen in a nice battle. Langenfelder into third as he passe Anstie and then De Wolf, McLellan, Webb, Haarup, Oliver and Adamo. Coenen slipped over and handed Vialle the moto win. Webster up to 13th and making a nice recovery.
