Triumph - Moving Forward
Monster Energy Triumph Factory Racing’s Guillem Farres has enjoyed a bittersweet weekend at the second round of the 2025 MX2 World Championship to ultimately place 10th overall. His race one 16th was improved upon considerably in race two, when the Spaniard ran third before two crashes relegated him to sixth.
Farres’ teammate, Camden McLellan, had a strong start to the day with a 10th place finish in Race One, but while running third in Race Two, he went off track and his Triumph machine became stuck in the mud. Camden ultimately placed 15th overall on the day.
Farres arrived at the first of his two home Grands Prix this season with high hopes of delivering strong results for himself, the team, and his native fans who braved the rain that soaked the Cozar circuit. As the fourth-fastest rider in time practice on Saturday, he certainly underlined his speed, then placed 10th in the qualifying race to begin the weekend on a positive note.
However, disaster struck early in race one when a rider in front of Farres fell, and the Spanish star could not avoid the stricken machine. As a result, the 21-year-old crashed and was fortunate to avoid injury or damage to his TF 250-X. From there, in seriously tough conditions, Guillem worked his way back to 16th by the finish.
Race two started much more positively, with sunshine breaking through. Moving into third place by lap three, Farres looked strong before a small crash on lap six dropped him to fourth. Another fall, just as the rain returned, pushed him back to sixth, where he remained until the finish. His results placed him 10th overall on the day, and he now moves up to ninth in the series standings.
Camden McLellan was looking forward to maintaining his strong start to the 2025 season in Spain and placed 10th in race one. Just like Farres, he started up front in race two and comfortably held third for a few laps until he went off track and hit a pile of mud that was scraped from the track. Unable to remove his bike, his race was frustratingly over. Camden leaves Spain 11th in the championship after two rounds.
The MX2 World Championship continues next weekend over the weekend of March 22-23 at Saint Jean d’Angely in France.
Guillem Farres
“My home GP was definitely a tough one! Conditions were pretty bad all weekend and in time practice I had the fourth fastest time. So that was pretty good and then in the qualifying race I was 10th after a couple of crashes. In race one, someone fell in front of me, and I couldn’t avoid their bike, so I crashed as well. It was pretty big and I was lucky to be OK. I got back to 16th, which wasn’t great, but I was glad to be healthy after that crash. I then had a great start in the second moto and moved up to third before having a small tip over. I dropped to fourth then another crash dropped me to sixth. Not the best result this weekend but not the worst either, so we’ll keep working and go again next weekend in France.”
Camden McLellan
“That’s the second round done and it’s been a really wet one. With the team we made some great improvements to the bike ahead of this race and they worked really well on track. The second race was a little disappointing. After a great start, I was running third and then I went off track and got stuck in a huge pile of mud, so that was my race over. But despite the results the bike is working awesome and I’m excited to be racing again next weekend.”
Vincent Bereni – Monster Energy Triumph Racing Team Manager
“Round two was not the best because of the conditions. They were really bad for everyone and it was definitely a difficult day for all involved. Racing in weather like this is always a gamble and things didn’t quite go our way today. As a team we’ll hit the reset button and be ready for France next weekend.”
