OZ SX - Day One
The high-octane action of the Fox Australian Supercross Championship has taken over Victoria Park as the Boost Mobile Supercross Sprint format unfolded today at the VAILO Adelaide 500. Day one delivered a series of adrenaline-packed SX1 and SX2 heat races, culminating in an intense SX1 Superpole performance that sets up an epic showdown for tomorrow’s Sprint Finals.
The SX1 class opened with a strong start as Jed Beaton, from the CDR Yamaha Monster Energy Team, stunned the field with his first Supercross heat race win in the premier division. Despite limited Supercross experience, the Victorian outpaced Supercross veteran Luke Clout (Empire Kawasaki) and Aaron Tanti (Boost Mobile Honda Racing) in a thrilling Heat One, continuing his impressive climb in the championship.
Heat Two brought a wave of dominance from Quad Lock Honda Racing, with teammates Joey Savatgy and Dean Wilson controlling the action, while privateer KTM rider Hayden Mellross delivered a remarkable performance to secure third place. Both Beaton and Savatgy’s heat race victories showcase the depth of talent vying for podium positions in Adelaide.
The SX1 Superpole session delivered more surprises, with Empire Kawasaki’s Luke Clout showcasing his speed and precision to secure the fastest lap, setting the stage for an epic finals showdown. His Superpole win grants him the first gate pick in tomorrow’s four Sprint Finals, just ahead of Quad Lock Honda’s Dean Wilson and Boost Mobile Honda’s Aaron Tanti.
In the SX2 category, Honda riders dominated their heats, with team leader Shane McElrath and teammate Cole Thompson securing front-row positions for tomorrow’s SX2 Sprint Finals.
Part of the iconic VAILO Adelaide 500, the Boost Mobile Supercross Sprint adds a new level of excitement to South Australia’s premier motorsport festival. With intense heats, fierce head-to-head battles, and an electrifying Superpole performance, fans can look forward to nonstop Supercross action across tomorrow’s Sprint Finals as Australia’s top riders go bar-to-bar for the championship
