  • Race Report

Nestaan Husqvarna factory rider Lucas Coenen has won the opening MX2 moto at the Czech Republic Grand Prix and as he has done so often lately, made more ground on the large points lead of his Husky team-mate, Kay De Wolf. De Wolf had come back from a horrible start to finish in third place, behind Coenen and Simon Langenfelder.

Lucas Coenen: Track is tough and it is hot. We had the red flag and I got to start again, then I passed my brother and got the win. I tipped over mid-race but still got the win.

Championship points are now Kay de Wolf 601 points, Lucas Coenen 562pts, Simon Laengenfelder 538pts, Liam Everts 495pts and Andrea Adamo 457pts.

MX2 Moto One

Sasha Coenen led the opening MX2 moto from Adamo, Everts, Langenfelder, Haarup, Mclellan, Zanchi, Martinez and Mikula. De Wolf moved into 10th place and then eight. Lucas Coenen also moved into the top ten in 10th place after a poor start. Red flag as Jack Chambers crashed hard and laying on the track, although seemed to be okay as the medics dealt with him.

In the restart it was again Sasha Coenen, followed by Lucas Coenen, Elzinga, Langenfelder, Everts, Reisulis, Zanchi, Walvoort and Alfarizi. De Wolf in 12th place. Chambers obviously not starting the moto after his crash.

Lap three and it was Sasha and Lucas Coenen, Elzinga, Langenfelder, Everts, Haarup, De Wolf, Reisulis, Zanchi and Adamo. Lucas Coenen into the lead as he passed his twin brother and they had a 6.2 second gap to Elzinga in third place.

Everts moved past Langenfelder, before the German passed him back, but the Belgian then regained the fourth position and went out after Elzinga in third. Lucas Coenen quickly made a break on his brother and on lap four the gap was 2.3 seconds.

Lap five and the top ten was Lucas and Sasha Coenen, then Elzinga, Everts, Langenfelder, Haarup, Reisulis, de Wolf, Adamo, Zanchi in 10th. De Wolf into seventh as he passed Reisulis. A mistake by Sasha Coenen as he dropped to sixth place, allowing a handful of riders pass.

Zanchi a problem as he has seemingly crashed and dropping back a bunch of spots. On lap seven the lead by Lucas Coenen over Elzinga was 4.2 seconds, then Everts, Langenfelder, Haarup, de Wolf, Sasha Coenen, Adamo, McLellan and Walvoort 10th.

Everts a beautiful move to get past Elzinga and can the Belgian chase his countryman in first place, the gap is 5.7 seconds on lap eight. Everts a mistake and he drops to fifth place, and Langenfelder passed Elzinga for second spot.

Langenfelder, Elzinga and Haarup all close together and Everts also not that far back from that group with De Wolf also closing in. Lap nine the lead was 10 seconds with that group of five riders fighting to get the scraps left by Coenen. Haarup into third place and de Wolf all over Everts for fifth position.

Everts into fourth and de Wolf also passed Elzinga, and on lap 11 it was Lucas Coenen with a 12 second lead, then Langenfelder, Haarup, Everts, de Wolf, Adamo, Elzinga, Sasha Coenen, McLellan and Walvoort. Sasha Coenen a mistake and now back in 14th position.

De Wolf made the move past Everts and was into fourth place and Sasha Coenen seemingly out of the moto after his crash. Adamo has also crashed and holding his wrist or hand. Seems to be cruising and maybe out of the moto. Oliver moved into the top ten due to the retirement of Adamo.

Lap 14 it was Lucas Coenen with a 13 second lead over, Langenfelder, then came Haarup, De Wolf, Everts, Elzinga, McLellan, Walvoort, Oliver and Reisulis. Lucas Coenen lapped Zanchi, who was in 15th place and Everts trying to make ground on De Wolf for fourth place. Lucas Coenen wins it from Langenfelder and de Wolf.
