Our sport is very lucky that a group of successful businessmen want to help improve our sport and make sure the riders get well paid and can reach their dreams.

We sat down with one of those men, Louis Vosters of the Fantic factory team last weekend after his two riders Andrea Bonacorsi and Glenn Coldenhoff finish on the MXGP podium in Spain. Obviously, he was very proud and excited for what is to come with his riders.

MXlarge: Louis, you put a lot into our sport, and I can imagine today is a pretty special day for you?

Vosters: Yes, for us it is special and of course, also for Fantic, because first podium for Fantic and also for us as a team. So, second and third, I am really happy. Second GP and this result, it gives us a big boost for the riders, and everyone in the team.

MXLarge: Glenn has mentioned how much better the bike is this year and the amount of work the team has done. What is the motivation for somebody like yourself, a successful businessman and putting so much effort and money into your team.

Vosters: I have a big passion for this sport, and I want to get the best out of it for the riders and team members. To give the riders what they want, what they need to perform at the best they can. Day by day, we try and improve, and we try to make the bikes better. We have Kevin Strijbos as the trainer and working hard to help the riders. Everybody in the team is working so hard and my motivation is to make the best from this team.

MXLarge: Most successful businessmen are perfectionist, and they want to work with similar minded people and of course, you are also Dutch and living in The Netherlands, I can see how much the Dutch want to do things correctly. To be able to bring your attitude to the sport and to this team. It must be nice to bring this to the sport.

Vosters: Yes, it is very nice and the people around me are so motivated and they have the same attitude, and we put a lot of hours into it.

MXlarge: You obviously had a bad experience in the sport, being told you are not wanted by Yamaha and now, getting two riders on the podium here, with the effort your team put it, does that also give some gratitude that you can still get these results, but with another brand name?

Vosters: More or less, yes, but I was happy with Yamaha, we had 69 podiums, and it brought me a lot. But now, with this new brand, for sure, it makes me happy, but it isn’t like I look at Yamaha, no, I look at where we are today.

MXlarge: Glenn is 34 years of age, and he is young compared to us, but in motocross terms, he is pretty old. I think we all need to respect him, still doing what he is doing. He told me it’s the best start to a season he has ever had. I mentioned maybe a GP wins are in his future and why not think about the World championship. You must be proud of him?

Vosters: We take it race by race and you know, if you think too much about results, it isn’t good. For the second race, I told him, Glenn, you are one of the toughest guys out there, so give it everything you have and let’s see where you end up. We take it race by race, but in the overall results, if he can be top three, we are happy, but we are not thinking about the title. Maybe we can look at a Grand Prix win, later in the season, you never know.

MXlarge: I don’t know if you ever raced, but what these riders do, they wake up in the morning and its cold and raining and they come here and do what they do. Glenn seems to love it. Do you understand that?

Vosters: Yes, I raced for 15 years as an international rider, so I understand what they like about this sport. At his age, 34 years of age, which is special, but physically he is still young and so motivated. To watch him work, he is so serious and motivated. But also, my other two riders, they also work so hard, and we have a great feeling in this team with our three riders.
