  • Race Report

Nestaan Husqvarna factory rider, Liam Everts has won the Spanish Grand Prix with a very impressive 2-1 performance. Winning his sixth GP victory in his somewhat short career also closed in on good friend and series leader, Kay de Wolf, also of the Nestaan Husqvarna team, who finished second overall with 2-3 score. Third overall was Ferruccio Zanchi with 1-12 results.

It was typical Everts style, mastering the mud and showing everyone, the 20 year old's mud skills are as impressive as anyone in the sport. Similar to his GP win in Portugal last year, he was in a class of his own. After entering Argentina late, due to recovering from his Chinese GP injury, the Husky rider is now looking like a strong contender for the 2025 MX2 championship.

Liam Everts: Super happy, you know. Speechless!! Six month ago I was on the couch and not knowing if I would ever race again. The boss is here, Kay Henekkens (team owner) and I am speechless. I am thankful my dad taught me those mud skills.

World championship points are now Kay de Wolf 97 points, Liam Everts 91 pts, Simon Längenfelder 78pts, Sacha Coenen 71pts and Andrea Adamo 71pts.

MX2 Moto Two

Everts led the second MX2 moto from de Wolf, McLellan, Farres, Benistant, Langenfelder, Valk, Adamo, Lata, Mikula in 10th. Husky and Triumph the top four spots. Zanchi in 11th and Coenen moved into 10th place. Zanchi in trouble as he drops through the field and back in 17th. He isn’t winning this GP.

Everts quickly with a 4.6 second lead over de Wolf and McLellan 6.4 back, with Farres 9.6 off the leader. Lap one and its Everts, de Wolf, McLellan, Farres, Benistant, Adamo, Lata, Langenfelder, Valk, and Mikula 10th. Adamo moved past Benistant and the track is just a mess. Sunny and muddy as Benistant ran off the track and lost more ground on Adamo. Prugnieres moved past Coenen to drop the Belgian to 12th place.

Coenen another crash and he dropped to 15th spot. On lap two it was Everts with a 9.4 second lead over de Wolf, with McLellan 13 seconds off the pace of the leader, then came Farres, Adamo, Benistant, Lata, Langenfelder, Valk, Prugnieres in 10th. Coenen now 16th and just not making the progress as he continues to make mistakes.

Benistant a crash as he dropped to 13th place and Everts 18 seconds ahead of de Wolf, and the Belgian really looking so smooth. Langenfelder covered in mud in fifth place and riding well after his get-off. McLellan also a crash and back in 18th spot.

Top ten on lap three was Everts, de Wolf, Farres, Adamo, Langenfelder, Valk, Prugnieres, Lata, Mikula, and Oliver 10th. Everts really in a class of his own as he held a 30 second lead over the defending MX2 champion, de Wolf.

Zanchi up to 12th place and doing his best to get a podium finish and his chances good as he races through the pack. Everts had build a 32 second lead over de Wolf, with Farres a solid third some 54 seconds back. Adamo closing up on Farres and they had gapped Valk by 14 seconds.

Lap eight and the lead by Everts was 38 seconds with Adamo third, but one minute and 11 seconds away from Everts, then came Valk, Farres, Langenfelder, Prugnieres, Oliver, Mikula and Lata 10th. Zanchi in 12th place.

Everts wins it with more than a minute advantage over de Wolf with Adamo third. The defending champion and former MX2 World champion having to admit that Everts was just too good on this day.
