Team Australia rider Jett Lawrence didn’t surprise anyone with his speed, to top the Open class free practice as the HRC man had changed classes yesterday, to give his brother Hunter more rest between motos tomorrow. Not a lot in the top three riders though, with Spain, Ruben Fernandez and Maxime Renaux from France both on similar times to Lawrence.

In the Open class free practice, it was first Maxime Renaux who came out quick with a time of 2.03.772, with Aaron Plessinger on 2.03.808, however, after five laps Jett Lawrence went 2.03.808 to climb into second place behind the Frenchman. Also quick was Glenn Coldenhoff in fourth spot, then Jan Pancar, Conrad Mewse, while Jago Geerts was ninth fastest on 2.07.289.

Jett Lawrence moved to the top of the Open class riders with a time of 2.02.243 on his 10th lap out there, and Rubin Fernandez moved into third with a time of 2.02.404, then came Conrad Mewse with 2.03.338, Valentin Guillod 2.04.302, Coldenhoff 2.04.587, then came Andrea Bonacorsi, Plessinger, Pancar and Cornelious Toendel. Tough times for Jago Geerts in 15th spot and five seconds off the time of Lawrence.

Lawrence improved his time to 2.02.215, as did Renaux with a time of 2.02.311, but the top ten quickest guys remained the same. Fernandez did a time of 2.02.281 to be second quickest in the Open class and with Prado fastest in MXGP, the Spaniards are looking solid. Plessinger dropped to ninth quickest, some three seconds off the pace of Lawrence, Fernandez and Renaux.
