Langenfelder Wins Saturday
German rider, Simon Langenfelder has ridden a very cool race to win the Saturday, MX2 qualifier at the Riola Sardo circuit in Sardinia. Langenfelder of the Red Bull KTM factory team led home Nestaan Husqvarna factory rider Liam Everts, with another Red Bull KTM factory rider, Sasha Coenen in third place.
Simon Langenfelder: Really happy with the race, consistent and mistake free and just enjoyed surfing in the sand. Really happy to start the weekend like this in these hard conditions and I am really enjoying the track.
World Championship point are now Liam Everts 144 points, Simon Längenfelder 142pts, Kay de Wolf 135pts, Andrea Adamo 131pts and Thibault Benistant 117pts.
MX2 Qualifier
Sasha Coenen with the holeshot from Langenfelder, Everts, Adamo, Benistant, de Wolf, Zanchi, Valk, Braceras, and Elzinga 10th. De Wolf crashed out of fifth place and back around 15th now. Langenfelder took the lead as Coenen also made a mistake and went down, dropping back to fifth.
Mayhem in the MX2 qualifier as Valk also went past Coenen and De Wolf in 14th. Top ten on lap one was Langenfelder, Everts, Adamo, Benistant, Valk, Coenen, Zanchi, Elzinga, McLellan and Braceras. Coenen moved into fifth to pass Valk, but Valk repassed the Belgian, before Coenen again passed the Dutchman.
On lap two the lead by Langenfelder was 1.6 seconds, with Adamo five seconds off the leader, then Benistant, Coenen, Valk, Elzinga, Zanchi, McLellan and de Wolf now into 10th place. Lata after a bad start in 12th place. Both Elzinga and McLellan moved past Zanchi.
Lap four and de Wolf moved past Zanchi for ninth place and the lead by Langenfelder opened to two seconds, as Coenen moved into fourth place, passing Benistant. McLellan moved past Elzinga for sixth place and the South African really riding well. On lap six it was Langenfelder, Everts, Adamo, Coenen, Benistant, McLellan, Elzinga, de Wolf, Zanchi and Valk in 10th.
Everts his best lap of the race as he closed right up on Langenfelder and then Langenfelder does his best lap of the moto, to match the Belgian. The German riding very smart today. Coenen all over Adamo for third place and he moved into third with a pass on Adamo. Langenfelder with nearly five seconds over Everts, with the Belgian 10 seconds ahead of his countryman, Coenen. Langenfelder wins it from Everts and Coenen.
