Always a great round up of his weekend, Kevin Horgmo gives us the inside look at what happened for him in Switzerland last weekend. The Honda mounted rider from Norway finished sixth overall and is in 8th place in the MXGP championship points standings. Below is what he thought of his weekend.

Round 6 of the World Championships was something a little out of the ordinary – with qualifying heats on Saturday and final heats on Easter-Monday. The track in Frauenfeld is technically demanding and compact, with deep tracks and tight sections that make overtaking difficult. Not exactly one of my favourites, but I did my best and got a solid finish overall.

Saturday – qualification: Time qualifying and training ended with 10th and 15th best times. Not quite a great feeling, but I was only about 2.5 seconds behind the fastest. In the qualifying heat, I had a bad start, but rode myself up from outside the top 20 and into 13th place. I pushed for 12th and was close, but it just didn't last. The field was extremely even – 10 to 20 seconds up to the top 5. I didn't think the riding was quite as I could, so was probably a little frustrated after Saturday.

Monday – final day: With a day off Sunday and small adjustments to the bike and the setup, I had a much better feeling on Monday morning. I set the 5th fastest time on warm-up, but knew that the start would come to be decisive in the heats.

Heat 1: Got a better start than in the qualifying heat around 10-12th place, but worked my way up to 8th place in the first round. I was chasing the group in front for a long time, but around halfway through the heat I couldn't match the speed of the top 7 anymore. Then I had a little one just front and back, so lay more or less alone. Not super happy with the riding, but a solidly executed heat in terms of placement.

Heat 2: Better start, but the first corner offered chaos and collisions. I narrowly avoided going down, but lost some positions. Was around 10-12th place and worked my way up the first rounds, and was in 8th place. Several riders in front crashed hard, among others. Tim Gajser. I was right behind Seewer for a long time at the start of the heat, but I was very careful when I saw how many people crashed and got medical attention off the track. Coldenhoff was right behind and chased me the whole heat, but I managed to keep him behind despite this. At the very end, there was chaos with riders who had been caught up with one lap, and I took the wrong track and tried two turns before the finish... I quickly got up and secured 8th place at the finish line – it should have been a 6th place, but that's the sport.

Overall: The overall for the weekend was a 6th place, and without the crash in the last heat it would have been 5th place. All in all, a decent weekend on a track that doesn't suit me perfectly – and most importantly: no major mistakes or injuries, in a weekend characterized by many crashes. I'm still in the top 8 in the World Championship summary, and now I'm looking forward to next weekend and the French Championship in Castelnau-de-Lévis – where I lead the championship and have the red plate! Thank you very much to everyone who supports and contributes.
