Jorge Prado interview - Steady

Swapmoto spent the day out at the Pro Circuit Supercross testing facility where Monster Energy Kawasaki's Jorge Prado was on-hand. The MXGP Champ is preparing for his full-rookie season kickoff in Anaheim, in just 2-weeks. Before leaving, we grabbed Jorge for a quick discussion about his preseason, decision to come to the States, and more!

Whiskey Throttle also linked up with Prado at the PC test track out at Glen Helen. He was kind enough to sit down and have a chat with Ping about what his off season is like, where he is heading into A1, and if he likes In N Out.

Jorge Prado: I expected to be riding more, I took my time off after the last GP, but as soon as I got back I had a little issue there and then I had another issue when I got back. It wasn’t a smooth beginning, but now we have two weeks and some days on the bike and there is progress and we made some changes to the bike. I am very happy and we have all year long and I have a lot to learn. For the little time I have had, I am happy.

Fitness wise I am pretty good and in 2024 I made a good fitness break and the difference is supercross is a different sport and I am tight when riding and over thinking and that gets my heart-rate even higher.

The good thing having Jason Anderson as a team-mate, he is very experienced and I learn from him. I try and learn every day at the track, but having him is good for me. Everyone is helping me out to get better ever day.

I am happy with my team, zero complaints and happy with them and also my riding. They always find something to make me comfortable and I am excited to go racing with them. I didn't do much riding yet, but we have all year and I don't need to win A1.

I am excited for A1, but also the outdoor season, because Outdoor tracks are pretty cool here. I think all of them are cool, I cannot say one, even Unadilla looks super fun with all the ruts, even though they told me it isn't the best, because its harder, and stones and stuff. Even racing Daytona, I think that will be super sick, kind of a sand race. Hopefully we can make it through the whole championship safe, that is the goal to get the experience.
