Jason Anderson - His A1
Monster Energy Kawasaki rider, Jason Anderson has started his 2025 season with a third-place finish at A1 and the American couldn’t be happier, but it nearly didn’t happen after a start straight collision.
Anderson kicked off the 2025 Monster Energy AMA Supercross season with strong performance, secured a finish that he feels will make this season a quality one. After a rigorous offseason of testing, KX™450SR riders Anderson started with a solid qualifying performance.
When the gate dropped for the 450SX Heat 1, Anderson and his No. 21 Kawasaki entered the first turn in fourth. With calculated line choices, Anderson made quick passes and finished the heat in second place.
In the main event, Anderson was banging bars with his competitors but rounding the first turn in sixth. The 2018 Supercross champion quickly made his way past his teammate in the whoops to take the lead. As the race unfolded, Anderson battled with his title contenders, but a couple small mistakes dropped him third. Below is what he felt about A1.
On his rough start
Anderson: When I came out of the gate I kind of got squirrely and tangled bars and ripped some spokes out, I don’t know, it was nothing crazy, but whenever you see them hitting your fork in the air it kind of makes you nervous. Like, you don’t want your front wheel to blow out when you’re riding. Then I started making mistakes left and right because I was just thinking about my front wheel.
On feeling Good at A1
Anderson: Luckily, I was able to get into a groove and when I got passed by Kenny, I just tried to latch onto him and bring it in. I had a little bit of pressure from Cooper [Webb] at the end, but I’m just thankful my front wheel held together, because I could’ve been on the ground pretty hard because of that.
On the Work His Team Have Done
Anderson: The whole Monster Energy Kawasaki team, we've been putting in a lot of work. I'm thankful to have them behind me and, yeah, that Main Event was crazy. That first corner, I went in there and I tangled with about everyone. I don't know how I survived. [The contact] ripped some spokes out and I could just see them, like, ticking on my fork. And I'm so lucky that it [the wheel] survived the Main. Yeah, felt pretty good out there, had a lot of moments, and hoping to clean it up and see if we can stay up here on the podium. So, excited for the season.
On Getting the Bike Sorted
Anderson: We have done a lot of testing in the offseason, and it was awesome to see it all pay off by starting the year off with a podium. Finishing second in the heat race gave me the confidence for the main event. Off the start, I got very sideways and was leaning on everyone but was able to muscle my way to the front pack. Battling with my Monster Energy Kawasaki teammate up front in the first few laps was incredible, but I was able to make the pass lead some laps. Overall, it was a great opening night for the 2025 season, and I am excited to line up next weekend in San Diego.”
