• Galicia, Spain, to host ninety-eighth NOCO FIM 6DAYS®
• Hundreds of competitors from over thirty nations set to take part
• United States start as defending FIM World Trophy champions

With preparations for this year’s NOCO FIM 6DAYS® complete, the NOCO Parc Fermé in Silleda is brimming with excitement as competitors from nations across the world ready themselves for the weeklong race.

Kicking off proceedings, nearby Santiago de Compostela will host the opening ceremony on Saturday, 12 October. Designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, competitors, family and friends, and the world’s media, will gather in front of the cathedral in the Praza do Obradoiro to celebrate the longest running offroad event on the FIM calendar.

After numerous dry and dusty editions of the NOCO FIM 6DAYS®, competitors are expecting a wet and muddy race, with long-range weather forecasts predicting unsettled conditions throughout the week. Promising to be a challenging test of enduro, the four unique courses will provide a true test of the surrounding Galician terrain.

To ease riders into this year’s race, days one and two will feature the same loop, while days three, four and five will present a new loop each day that increases in difficulty. Finally, racing concludes on day six with the Final Cross Test Galicia, close to the NOCO Parc Fermé in Silleda.

For days one and two, the Santiago loop takes competitors north-west from Silleda, close to Santiago de Compostela. At one-hundred-and-twenty-five kilometres in length, it will be ridden twice each day. Day three's A Estrada loop, will be the longest course of the week at one-hundred-and-forty-five kilometres, and brings riders to the south-west of Silleda. With two laps and a total of six special tests to complete for the day, it will prove a demanding challenge to reach the midway point in this year’s NOCO FIM 6DAYS®.

On paper, day four’s Vilatuxe-Lalin route is the shortest at just one-hundred-and-six kilometres. Although two laps of this course, which provides plenty of elevation changes as riders pass through mountainous terrain, will continue to test riders.

A welcome milestone in any NOCO FIM 6DAYS®, day five marks the penultimate race day, and the final full day in the saddle. However, considered the most difficult course of the week, Orense-Irixo will demand full focus. At one-hundred-and-thirty-four kilometres in length, it follows a similar path to the previous day, before venturing off into fresh trails. With a tough two-hundred-and-sixty-eight kilometres of riding expected, riders will have completed twelve-hundred-and-seventy kilometres of riding by the time they reach the NOCO Parc Fermé at the end of day five.

As per tradition, day six will see the Final Cross Test Galicia complete this year’s NOCO FIM 6DAYS®. Located beside the paddock in Silleda, competitors will welcome the short transfer to the racetrack. In front of thousands of spectators and fans, riders will battle it out one last time for a place on the World Trophy and Club Team Awards podiums, before celebrating late into the night with the GASGAS 6DAYS PARTY.

United States ready to defend World Trophy crown

As defending champions of the World Trophy competition, the United States have their sights set on retaining their title in Galicia. A strong line-up, featuring two national champions, ensures the United States should hit the ground running on Monday morning. However, with eighteen nations contesting the World Trophy category, the fight for a place on the final podium will be fierce.

Placing as vice-champions to the United States in 2023, France will look to go one better in Galicia. France naturally favour wet and muddy enduro conditions and will welcome rain in Silleda. So too will Great Britain. Third in last year’s NOCO FIM 6DAYS®, and victors in 2022, they will look to start strong.

With the support of a home nation behind them, Spain will come out swinging on day one. Led by 2024 FIM EnduroGP World Champion, Josep Garcia (KTM), Galicia could be the location where they finally reach the top step of the World Trophy podium in the NOCO FIM 6DAYS®. Add Italy, Australia, Portugal, Brazil, Finland and Sweden to the mix, among others, and the stage is set for an exciting World Trophy race in Spain.

In the Women’s World Trophy, the United States also start as defending champions. A strong entry sees eleven teams set to line-up on the NOCO Parc Fermé start ramp on Monday morning. Ready to challenge last year’s winners, Australia will no doubt have winning intentions. Comprising a vastly experienced and fast mix of riders, they will bid for their seventh world crown in Galicia.

Fronted by newly crowned FIM Women’s Enduro World Champion Mireia Badia (Rieju), Spain will look to challenge the United States and Australia on home soil. France, Great Britain, New Zealand, Italy and Sweden are all podium contenders in Spain.

Traditionally difficult to predict, the Junior World Trophy category features the world’s best young enduro talent. France will begin their week as defending champions having topped the podium last year in Argentina, ahead of the United States and Sweden. All three nations will fight for medals again in 2024, while Sweden seek redemption having lost the race lead on last year’s Final Cross Test. Italy, Spain, Australia, Chile and Great Britain all pose a threat to the leading trio.

As ever, the all-important Club Team Awards (CTA) category boasts the bulk of the entry list in the ninety-eighth NOCO FIM 6DAYS®. Filled with hundreds of passionate amateur and hobby riders from around the world, one-hundred-and-thirty-eight teams are entered across all CTA classes. New for 2024, nine Veteran Club Team and two Women’s Club Team teams will compete in Spain.
