While it was Monster Energy Yamaha factory rider, Thibault Benistant who won the Saturday MX2 qualifier, it was the big crash by Red Bull KTM factory rider, Sasha Coenen while leading and the mechanical issue by Nestaan Husqvarna factory rider, Kay De Wolf that was the talking point.

And let’s not forget, De Wolf's team-mate, Liam Everts, who finished third and took the lead in the MX2 championship points. High drama in France today.

Championship points are now 1. Liam Everts 99 points, Kay de Wolf 97pts, Simon Längenfelder 87pts, Andrea Adamo 77pts amd Sacha Coenen 76pts.

MX2 Qualification Race

Coenen led the MX2 qualifier from De Wolf, Langenfelder, Reisulis, Gwerder, Everts, Benistant, Oliver, Adamo, Lata in 10th. McLellan 13th, Valk 16th, Elzinga 19th, and Zanchi 23rd. De Wolf chasing Coenen as the two Benelux riders move away from third placed Langenfelder.

Lap three it was Coenen, De Wolf, Langenfelder, Benistant, Reisulis, Everts, Gwerder, Adamo, McLellan and Lata 10th. De Wolf looking very handy with the extra confidence from being a World champion.

On lap four the lead by Coenen was two seconds ahead of De Wolf, with not too many positional changes inside the top ten, but some close racing between Adamo and McLellan as the South African moved past the Italian and into eight place.

Zanchi up to 14th after his poor start and on lap seven the lead by Coenen over De Wolf was 2.7 seconds. Adamo into sixth place with a pass on Reisulis and suddenly De Wolf out of the race and going to lose a lot of points today, allowing Everts even close in the championship points.

Coenen now 10 seconds ahead of Benistant, who has moved into second after passing Langenfelder. Everts fourth, Adamo fifth, then McLellan, Reisulis, Lata, Oliver, and Valk 10th. Zanchi a nice charge into 12th place, but no points.

Huge crash from Coenen as he flew off the bike and got hit by the bike but still got up in third place. Everts moved into third place with a pass on Coenen and took the championship points lead. Benistant wins the moto from Langenfelder and Everts.
