The current leader of the MXGP championship, Tim Gajser rode a very impressive moto to beat home defending champion, Jorge Prado, and both riders showed brilliant speed on Saturday, in the MXGP qualification race. Prado finished second and Herlings third.

Tim Gajser: I mean, it was a good moto, I had a good start behind Jorge and the track was sketchy, very slippery, and I passed quickly and we pulled away and the pace was good. I hope we can do the same tomorrow.

Championship points between the big three is now Tim Gajser 618 points, Jorge Prado 583pts and Jeffrey Herlings 565pts.

MXGP Qualification race

Prado led the MXGP qualifier from Gajser, Guadagnini, Herlings, Vlaanderen, Gifting, Repcak, Seewer, Bruce and Tropepe. Prado a mistake and Gajser into the lead, and Herlings all over Prado for second place. Febvre into ninth place after a poor start.

Lap one and it was Gajser, Prado, Herlings, Guadagnini, Vlaanderen, Gifting, Seewer, Febvre and Repcak. Bruce a mistake and dropped to 24th place. Gajser looking very sharp as the lead goes to two seconds and Herlings in third four seconds of the leader.

Prado a super quick lap, as he close right up on Gajser for the lead and Herlings loses more ground on the two in front. Seewer and Febvre both passed Gifting, who dropped to eight place. Prado really looking cool and calm as he hounded Gajser for the lead.

Herlings now six seconds off the leaders and clearly struggling compared to the front two. On lap five the top ten was Gajser, Prado, Herlings, Guadagnini, Vlaanderen, Seewer, Febvre, Gifting, Propepe and Coldenhoff into 10th.

Gajser showing great control as he made the gap to Prado 2.1 seconds and Herlings was seven seconds off the Slovenian. Vlaanderen and Seewer both closing up on fourth placed man, Guadagnini. Vlaanderen doing his best to get past the Italian, but then Seewer moved into fifth place and is challenging the Husky man.

Seewer also moved past Guadagnini and into fourth. Top ten on lap eight was Gajser, Prado, Herlings, Seewer, Guadagnini, Vlaanderen, Febvre, Coldenhoff, Tropepe, and Guillod into 10th. Vlaanderen passed Guadganini and Febvre also looking to make a pass on the Italian.

Prado closed up the gap to Gajser with three minutes left in the moto as the Spaniard looking very fast now. Very good racing by the two front guys. Lap 11 and the top ten was Gajser, Prado, Herlings, Seewer, Vlaanderen, Febvre, Guadganini, Coldenhoff, Tropepe, and Guillod in 10th.

The lead was suddenly three seconds and Gajser wins it from Prado and Herlings, who was 12 seconds off the winners pace.
