Gajser The Great - All Time

While Tim Gajser was the Grand Prix winner last weekend, as is often the case with the always friendly Slovenian, his victory was left a little in the shadows as Jeffrey Herlings put up that sensational charge in the second MXGP moto.

Having already scored his 200th moto win in GP battle, all eyes were on "The Bullet", in that second race, but in fact, it was the performance of Gajser, that might take the Honda man to his sixth World title.

Now, while Gajser 100% deserved the Grand Prix victory, his 48th in his illustrious career, he also made some moves up the All-time list. With his win last weekend at the Loket circuit, Gajser moved a step closer to Joel Roberts and his six World titles and 50 GP wins.

It should be mentioned, in MXGP overall wins, Herlings has 44 and Gajser 43. Wins in the premier class are like gold to score and both these men deserve huge respect for their performances in this very tough class.

The way Gajser is riding, with the consistent results, it will be very difficult for Jorge Prado or Jeffrey Herlings to catch him, but as we know, anything can happen in motocross and usually does, but until now Gajser has finished first 11 times out of the 39 motos run, he has also finished second on 17 occasions, and third on five occasions. So, from the 39 motos run so far, he has been top three on 33 times!!! If that isn’t being consistent, then I don’t know what is. On those stats, hand him the 2024 MXGP championship trophy ASAP!!!

If the HRC man can win the title this year and claim another two GP wins, he will go from six in the all-time list (a list made up by statistics) to third, behind only Stefan Everts and Antonio Cairoli. Now, that is special in itself.

To really understand how good both Gajser and Herlings are, just look at that list below and the names on it. While it would be difficult for these two fine athletes to catch either Stefan Everts or Antonio Cairoli in the stats, for both titles and GP wins, both can easily become statistically, the third and fourth best riders in the sports history.

With seven rounds remaining, 21 motos, and 420 points still up for grabs, it is anyone’s to win or lose, but man, if Gajser podiums in Lommel, Sweden and Arnhem (which is very likely), that 35-point lead over Prado and 55 points over Herlings, will become very difficult to catch.
