Eli Tomac - Quickest in Canada
Swapmoto caught up with Eli Tomac after his Friday run around the Canadian SXGP circuit. The AMA legend is coming off his brilliant MXoN performance and seems as quick as ever. Also some words from the others.
Hosted by BC Place in Vancouver, the WSX Canadian Grand Prix saw its first laps underway as the riders got to grips with a new and challenging layout for the season opener.
As the premier class roared into life at BC Place it was Supercross legend and WSX ‘rookie’ Eli Tomac who was quickest out of the blocks setting a fastest time of a 54.32 after just eight laps, recording far fewer tours than any of the other front runners.
Then came the usual suspects, with two-time WSX runner-up Joey Savatgy six-tenths behind Tomac, and reigning two-time WSX Champion Ken Roczen a further four-tenths back in third. Rick Ware Racing’s Mitchell Oldenburg kicked off his first full-time WSX 450 season in style with fourth place while Dean Wilson on his Fire Power Honda took fifth after notching the most laps of anyone (15).
