De Wolf - MX2 or MXGP in 2025
Yesterday we did a nice interview with Nestaan Husqvarna factory team manager Rasmus Jorgensen and while we spoke mainly about his job as a team manager and what comes with that job, we also talked a little about what World MX2 champion, Kay De Wolf will be doing in 2025. Will he defend his championship in MX2, or will he move up to the MXGP class. Seems that still isn't decided, but below is what Rasmus told us and the full interview with Rasmus comes soon.
Rasmus Jorgensen: Kay is still, in the process of taking it all in and getting a title and there are plenty of opportunities to move to MXGP, if he wants to and I would support him in that move. Personally, I don’t think he wants to, I think he wants to defend his title next year, that will also be announced soon, but right now is has been busy after the season and now he is in America, and he is taking it all in, you know. I would support him in whatever he wants to do, ultimately, he is the one who needs to go out on track and do it and I don’t think there is a right or wrong decision on this. You only know once you do it. It is not easy to go and defend your title and it is definitely not easy to move up to MXGP. This sport isn’t easy and whatever you do, it isn’t going to be easy. You cannot say, I am now World champion, I am going to be on the same level next year. You need to reset and you start all over again.
