Nestaan Husqvarna factory rider, Kay De Wolf has won a sensational opening MX2 moto after battling hard with Red Bull KTM factory rider, Sasha Coenen and then fighting off the hard charging South African, Camden McLellan. The defending MX2 champion played the waiting game and showed so much maturity to win this one. Second was McLellan on the factory Triumph and third Simon Langenfelder on the Red Bull KTM factory bike.

Championship points are now Simon Längenfelder 162 points, Kay de Wolf 160pts, Liam Everts 159pts, Andrea Adamo 149pts and Sacha Coenen 125pts.

Kay De Wolf: They want to waste too much energy and I waited until he (Coenen) made a mistake and then I heard him behind me tipping it over and then Camden was riding really well at the end and he pushed me.

MX2 Moto One

Sasha Coenen with the holeshot as Benistant and Zanchi went down in the first corner. Behind Coenen was De Wolf, Adamo, McLellan, Elzinga, Reisulis, Everts, Braceras, Lata and Langenfelder 10th. McLellan passed Adamo and Valk passed Langenfelder to move into 10th position.

Everts moved into sixth place as he passed Reisulis and the lead by Coenen over De Wolf was 3.3 seconds. Langenfelder into ninth as he passed Valk and Lata dropped to 11th. Benistant up to 16th place and Zanchi 15th.

Coenen looking brilliant and it seems he is slowly showing all the potential we all know he has. De Wolf though, using his experience and closing the gap slightly with the gap now 3.1 seconds and Everts doing his best to catch and pass Elzinga.

Coenen responded and was suddenly 4.4 seconds ahead of de Wolf, with McLellan remaining in third, then Adamo, Everts, Elzinga, Langenfelder, Valk, Reisulis and Braceras 10th. Langenfelder also passed Elzinga and the two championship leaders, Everts and Langenfelder fighting for the points lead, as De Wolf in second tries to regain the red plate.

De Wolf again responded to Coenen and the gap was 2.7 seconds with Langenfelder all over Everts and he made the pass. Championship points getting closer and closer with the top three. The lead by Coenen was then 2.2 seconds and de Wolf was coming.

De Wolf closing up on Coenen and these two Benelux riders showing brilliant speed in their much-loved sand circuit. Everts nearly a big crash, but corrected it, but now losing ground on Langenfelder. The lead was 1.5 second son lap seven and de Wolf looking very calm and in control.

McLellan doing brilliant as the only non-Austrian bike inside the top six, as its KTM, Husky, Triumph, KTM, Husky, then Elzinga on a Yamaha. Coenen again showing smarts as he gapped the World MX2 champion again, but De Wolf not giving up in his chase of the diminutive Belgian charger.

De Wolf all over Coenen on lap eight looking so beautiful on the bike. On lap nine it was Coenen, De Wolf, McLellan, Adamo, Langenfelder, Everts, Elzinga, Valk, Reisulis, and Braceras. It looks like de Wolf is just allowing Coenen to have all the pressure and waiting to take the lead when he felt like it. Adamo into third place and the two HRC men, Lata and Zanchi in 11th and 12th places.

A nice battle with Adamo, McLellan and Langenfelder, as Coenen and de Wolf fight for the lead. Everts losing a lot of ground and seemingly struggling somewhat. Lata and Zanchi trying to catch 10th place man, Braceras.

De Wolf still waiting, watching and suddenly he made the move and went into the lead. A magnificent battle for the front spot and McLellan back into third spot with a pass on Adamo. De Wolf really looking at taking the red plate in this moto. Langenfelder also passed Adamo. On lap 13 it was De Wolf, Coenen, McLellan, Langenfelder, Adamo, Everts, Elzinga, Valk and Reisulis.

And in a stunning MX2 moto one, in a year that this class is looking very entertaining. Coenen went down and such an unfortunate end to what has been a brilliant race for the little Belgian. McLellan into second and Langenfelder into third and he grabs the red plate.

Coenen in fifth place, just ahead of Everts, who will be desperate to get more points. De Wolf wins what has been a very intelligent ride, with McLellan a very good second and Simon Langenfelder third as the battle for the red plate continues between de Wolf, Langenfelder and Liam Everts, who finished sixth.
