Coenen Wins Moto One - China

Nestaan Husqvarna factory rider Lucas Coenen has won the opening MX2 moto at the MXGP of China this morning. The Belgian took the lead from the start of the race and like so many of his moto wins, just did what he had to, to win it. Second was Simon Langenfelder and third Kay De Wolf.

Lucas Coenen: It was a good one, I got the holeshot. I am not used to these conditions and it can kill you, but now onto the second moto.

The championship points lead by de Wolf is now 39 points with three Sunday motos to go and one Saturday qualifier, so 85 points still available. Championship points are now Kay de Wolf 893pts and Lucas Coenen 854pts.

MX2 Moto One

Lucas Coenen led from Langenfelder, Everts, Reisulis, de Wolf, Adamo, Elzinga, Braceras, Haarup and Australian, Cosford in 10th. Everts moved past Langenfelder for second and New Zealander Connelly moved into 10th as Cosford dropped to 13th.

Langenfelder back into second place as he passed Everts and on lap one the top ten was Coenen, Langenfelder, Everts, Reisulis, de Wolf, Elzinga, Adamo, Braceras, Haarup and Walvoort 10th. Wildcar riders, Cosford and Connolly were 14th and 16th respectively.

Reisulis passed Everts for third place on lap three and the lead by Coenen over Langenfelder was 2.7 seconds. Fifth was De Wolf, then Elzinga, Adamo, Haarup, McLellan, Braceras and Benistant. All five wildcard riders in 15th, 16th, 17th, 18th and 19th as they find the GP pace not easy.

Lap seven it was Coenen, Langenfelder, Reisulis, Everts, De Wolf, Elzinga, Adamo, Haarup, McLellan, and Benistant 10th. Everts all over Reisulis for third and De Wolf a second back from them. De Wolf right on the rear end of Everts and Reisulis for third place and Everts moved past the Latvian to get away from de Wolf.

Lap 11 and the lead by Coenen over Langenfelder was 2.2 seconds, with Everts 7.3 off the leader, then de Wolf, Reisulis, Elzinga, Adamo, Haarup, McLellan and Benistant 10th. Lap 13 and the lead was down to 1.6 seconds and Adamo passed Haarup for sixth place.

Adamo moved into fifth place as he passed a fading Reisulis and de Wolf also passed Everts for third spot. Lap 14 it was Coenen, Langenfelder, de Wolf, Everts, Adamo, Haarup, Reisulis, Elzinga, McLellan, and Benistant still 10th. Haarup moved past Reisulis, dropping the Latvian to seventh spot. Lap 16 the lead was 4.5 seconds and Coenen wins it from Langenfelder and De Wolf and gains some more points over the red plate team-mate.
