  • Race Report

Nestaan Husqvarna rider Lucas Coenen has won yet another MX2 GP with victory in China today, the ninth in his career and eighth this year. The Belgian youngster went 1-1 for another impressive GP victory, and puts even more pressure on team-mate, Kay De Wolf, who still owned the red plate and a sizeable points lead.

De Wolf was second overall with 3-2 and Simon Langenfelder was third with 2-3. Championship points are now Kay de Wolf 915 points and Lucas Coenen 879pts, so a lead of 36 points by the Dutchman.

Lucas Coenen: I need to push and now, the heat when you stop is more, but I want to beat him and lets see in the final round what happens. I wanted to say sorry to Liam (they collided and Everts retired from the moto) and I thought, shit, what did I do. I saw his father and I didn't mean to do it.

MX2 Moto Two

Reisulis led from Langenfelder, de Wolf, Everts, Coenen, McLellan, Haarup, Braceras, Karssemakers, Walvoort in 10th. Everts a mistake and he dropped to 15th place and Adamo was in 13th spot. Adamo quickly up to 11th spot and Elzinga back in 17th spot.

Lap three and the top ten was Reisulis, Langenfelder, de Wolf, McLellan, Coenen, Haarup, Braceras, Karssemakers, Benistant, Adamo in 10th. Aussie Cosford in a very strong 11th spot and Zanchi 12th. Everts out of the race as was New Zealander Connolly.

Reisulis really showing good speed as he held a 5.5 second lead over Langenfelder, then came de Wolf, McLellan, Coenen, Haarup, Braceras, Karssemakers, Benistant, Adamo in 10th. Benistant passed Karssemakers for seventh place and Adamo moved into ninth spot and then eight with a pass onKarssemakers, who seemed to be fading.

De Wolf nearly down as he chased Langenfelder, and Coenen moved into fourth place as he passed McLellan, who dropped to eight after a mistake. On lap 11 it was de Wolf who took the lead from Reisulis who crashed and then passed Langenfelder. Coenen moved into third place and then second as he passed Langenfelder.

Coenen all over de Wolf for the moto win and another battle of the team-mates for the GP and also for the title. Coenen into the lead, but de Wolf came back and regained the lead, but Coenen took it straight back. Coenen goes 1-1 for the GP win and once again closed the points gap, but has time run out with just one GP remaining?
