An excited and very happy Red Bull KTM factory rider Lucas Coenen has played his first hand in the 2025 MXGP championship with a very impressive MXGP qualification win. Second was HRC factory rider, Tim Gajser, who extended his championship points lead as his two French rivals, Maxime Renaux and Romain Febvre finished further down the field in fourth and fifth.

Lucas Coenen: I got a really good start and it was so good. I said Rome wasn't built in a day and I was able to get the win today. Tim is a great champion and he can ride. I ride with him on his home track a lot. Tomorrow is another day.

Championship points are now Tim Gajser 117 points with a 23 point led over Maxime Renaux on 94 pts and Romain Febvre also 94pts, then comes Glenn Coldenhoff 79ptd and Lucas Coenen 67pts.

Gajser the quickest as he passed Gajser, as Renaux stalled his bike and was back in fifth place. Gajser now 4.1 behind Coenen, who continues to look smoother at this race. Forato a strong 11th coming back from injury.

On lap give Coenen now 4.5 seconds ahead of Gajser and really showing his liking for this French circuit. Fernandez fourth ahead of Renaux, who had repassed Pancar and Febvre into eighth place passing both Jonass and Gifting. Vlaanderen into fifth passing Pancar.
