Steve Dixon Kawasaki UK rider Bobby Bruce has won the opening moto of the Motul British MX2 championship. The youngster took the holeshot and was never headed. Second was Triumph factory rider, Tommy Searle and third young Dutchman, Gyan Doensen of the Gabriel SS24 KTM team.

Bobby Bruce: I think all the peices are coming together and the bike feels good. The team have worked had and so have I. Now we need to do it again. I mean, I knew the start was important and I knew Tommy is clever and those boys were not going to pass him.

Under beautiful racing conditions and in front of a nice sized spectator turn-out, Bruce with the holeshot in the opening MX2 race in England with Tommy Searle second and Ben Mustoe next, followed by Gyan Doensen in fourth place with Glenn McCormick in fifth place.

Bruce quickly made a break from Searle, with a one second lead with Mustoe a further second back in third. Mustoe a mistake and Doensen into third place. Bruce riding beautifully and bigger gaps between the top three. Bruce 3.5 seconds ahead of Searle and then another 3.5 seconds back was Doensen, with Mustoe fourth and McCormick still fifth.

While Bruce had opened a five second lead, Doensen was all over Searle for second place as the young Dutchman looking very hungry to pass the veteran in Searle. Brilliant battle between a future star and Britain’s best motocross rider from the last 20 years (Searle).

Searle continued to hold onto the second position as Doensen did his best to get as many points in his debut British championship race. Mustoe closing up on Doensen as the race entered the final laps and after making a charge to Searle, the Dutchman was maybe struggling a little. Bruce wins it from Searle and Doensen.
