The opening round of the 2025 Motul ACU British Motocross Championship will be run this coming weekend at the famous Hawkstone Park circuit in the UK. Of course, multi-time British champion, Conrad Mewse should be the heavy favourite going into Hawkstone Park, but regular GP riders, Adam Sterry and Josh Gilbert will be trying to take victory from the Honda man.

In the MX2 class, it could be a battle between the veterans Tommy Searle, Jake Nicholl and the youngsters, Bobby Bruce, Billy Askew and young Dutchman, Gyan Doensen.

Probably the most famous circuit in the country with its deep sands and demanding hills, this will be an exciting round for riders and spectators. The circuit has been updated throughout the winter of 2011 and new roadways have made parking much easier.

To coincide with the new MXGB British 125cc championship, the ACU, along with Championship Director Paul Irwin and with support from Michelin tyres have got their heads together and decided to form the new Michelin 125cc MX Youth Academy for 2025.

At each round of the championship, former World GP and British championship racers Justin Morris and Jeff Perrett will stage a coaching briefing early on Saturday evening in the hospitality marquee for any 125cc British championship riders who wish to attend.

Over the course of the British championship they will discuss what it takes to become a professional motocross athlete, going through a range of topics such as fitness and mental conditioning, varying riding techniques, media training and bike set up Series Director Paul Irwin said:

‘In the UK we are behind the curve on a world stage. 30 years ago, we were at the forefront of World Motocross and now we are not even present. The rest of the world has upped its game and now it’s time we did the same. This is step one for our young riders to not only learn, but to learn quickly from a panel of experts, helping them improve all aspects of their racing from technique, fitness, diet, bike setup, the list goes on. The eyes of the industry are on this series, and it will be interesting which riders really embrace the opportunity to learn and show their ability in front of these potential sponsors.’

So if your a 125cc British Championship rider come and join us a 17:00 in the Michelin VIP Tent

In addition to the waived registration fees, riders will benefit from additional prize money, with a remarkable structure aimed at rewarding all riders who finish a main event.

For every participant who finishes at Hawkstone Park, £10 per race will be allocated from the prize pool, ensuring that even those who finish 11th to 40th in the 125cc class and 16th to 40th in both the MX1 and MX2 classes will receive a share of the rewards and go home with money in their pocket come Sunday evening. This inclusive approach ensures everyone has a stake in the action at round one

“When Paul asked us if we could do something to help the privateers this season, we jumped at the chance,” said Max Flint from Planet Moto. “Over 80% of our customers are privateer professionals or amateur racers, so it fits our brand perfectly.”

With the support of Planet Moto and a vast amount of industry and manufacturer support, this season promises to be one for the history books.

Of course, you can also catch all the action from Hawkstone Park and all the other rounds, right here: MXGB-TV or here Dirtworld TV
