Another fly-away this weekend as we head back to only the second MXGP round ever held in China. We ran there in 2019 with Jeffrey Herlings winning the MXGP class and Jorge Prado winning in MX2, so both those guys will enjoy this coming weekend as we race the same circuit.

For those who were lucky enough to travel to China in 2019, it was an amazing experience and I thought maybe it was a good idea to look back on that Grand Prix, back five years ago.

Prado took his 31st GP win in China in 2019 and from memory, it was the 86th for Herlings. Of course now, Prado has 47 GP wins and Herlings 107.

In the MXGP class Herlings wen 2-1 from countryman Glenn Coldenhoff, who scored 1-2 and Jeremy Seewer third with 4-3, while Tim Gajser finished fourth with 3-4. Coldenhoff was coming off a hot streak, while Herlings was coming back from missing a lot of the season with, you guessed it, injury. In the MX2 class Prado went 1-1 ahead of Tom Vialle on 3-2 and Calvin Vlaanderen 2-4.

Hard to tip who wins this weekend, but you just know the big three will be around the podium places, but where and how many points will be scored for these guys. A very cool gopro video of Herlings doing a lap of the Shanghai circuit.

Amazing to think this amazing and expensive facility (because it is that) just sat dorment for five years a Covid ripped through the World and for sure, China!!
