The completely sold-out Westfalenhalle was on its head when Greg Aranda (Sturm Racing Team), the old and new champion of the ADAC SX Cup, did his lap of honour. Second place in the final on Saturday was enough for the Frenchman to secure the title in the winter series. In the race, Aranda only had to admit defeat to his compatriot and teammate Maxime Desprey.

"It's great to be back in the SX1," said the day's winner Desprey, who had to take a long break after a serious fall two years ago, then returned to the SX2 last year and promptly won the Prince title in Dortmund. "The track is very demanding and doesn't forgive mistakes. I'm absolutely happy to have won today." Aranda congratulated his teammate: "Congratulations to Maxime. It's really hard to win here. I had a bad start and had to find my way into the race. Then I thought about the championship and the King's classification. Tomorrow I want to give it my all again and win the king's title again after 2014."

Greg Aranda once again secured the title in the ADAC SX-Cup in the SX1
Jordi Tixier (KMP-Honda-Racing powered by Krettek), who finished second in the ADAC SX-Cup on Friday evening and was able to make up ground on Aranda and keep his championship hopes alive, crashed in the final race and had to settle for eighth place after a strong comeback. Tixier ended up missing 13 points in the championship.

Cedric Soubeyras (Kawasaki Team Pfeil) completed the podium in the race - the 'King of Dortmund' 2024 celebrated a dream comeback in Dortmund just two months after a hip injury. "When I think about where I was after my fall two months ago - that's a relief for me. Coming third behind these two great drivers is great. It's a good feeling to be back on the podium. Tomorrow we'll continue!"

Even if it wasn't enough for a top placing, the two German drivers were cheered frenetically by the fans in the final. Maximilian Spies (Becker Racing) and Dennis Ullrich (KTM Sarholz Racing Team) finished in tenth and eleventh positions.

The SX2 final on Saturday evening was not for the faint-hearted. In a thrilling heat over 15 laps, Calvin Fonvielle (KTM Sarholz Racing Team) prevailed. The Frenchman has made it onto the podium every year since 2019, but he was still missing a win. With his first triumph, he crowned himself champion in the SX2 classification of the ADAC SX Cup. It got really exciting, especially in the final meters, when second-placed Jules Pietre (Meyer Racing powered by DirtScrub) reached for the stars, but in the end had to admit defeat by just 0.805 seconds. Izaih Clark completed the podium.

Brice Maylin (Meyer Racing powered by DirtScrub), who had temporarily taken the lead in the cup rankings with third place on Friday, only finished fifth at the "Night of the Fans" and finished the championship on the same number of points as Fonvielle. However, as the latter had two daily victories in the winter season, the pendulum swung in his favor in the end. Preston Boespflug (Kawasaki Team Pfeil), who had traveled to Dortmund as the leader of the table, fourth place was not enough to challenge for the championship again.

"I had to wait so long for this victory here in Dortmund," said an impressed Fonvielle. "Yesterday I made a big mistake in the final that almost cost me the title. Today it went better. I had a good start and the race was good. When my team boss showed me after crossing the finish line that I was the champion, a weight was lifted from my shoulders. I still can't believe it."

The German drivers, Paul Bloy (S-TECH RACING PRODUCTS), Nico Koch (Becker-Racing) and Paul Haberland (Motorrad Waldmann), who had been on course for a podium finish until a collision with Boespflug, were waved off in sixth, seventh and tenth place.
