Aranda Too Good - Stuttgart SX
At the 40th ADAC Supercross Stuttgart on November 8th and 9th, a total of 16,980 fans created a thrilling atmosphere in the completely sold-out Hanns-Martin-Schleyer-Halle. Greg Aranda from France put his stamp on the anniversary edition of the motorsport classic and deservedly crowned himself "King of Stuttgart". The 35-year-old won the elite class SX1 for the fourth time after 2014, 2015 and 2023. This makes the Frenchman the sole record winner of the ADAC Supercross Stuttgart. He overtook the Americans Mike Craig and Jason Thomas, who each won three titles in a row in Stuttgart.
As in the previous year, Aranda was in unbeatable shape throughout the entire weekend and confidently won the final race on Friday and Saturday. At the awards ceremony, the Frenchman was overjoyed: "I feel really good. It's always great to come to Stuttgart and I'm looking forward to next year." On Saturday, the experienced rider celebrated a safe start-to-finish victory and demonstrated his class. Things were more exciting behind him: Jordi Tixier won the duel for second place with Maxime Desprey. The SX1 podium was therefore completely in French hands.
Spies and Scheu miss SX1 final
Saturday evening was less successful for the German starters in the SX1. A fall in the qualification cost Maximilian Spies the final. Mark Scheu (Grabenstetten) narrowly missed out on a place in the final after a tough fight. Unfortunately, the two Germans were not able to make it in the repechage either. "Due to a small mistake, I jumped into a bale of straw in the semi-final," said Spies from Brandenburg, disappointed. "It's a real shame, I actually felt really good today." For Scheu, however, the positive feeling of having made it to the evening show twice on his first appearance in Stuttgart prevailed.
SX2: US boy wins, three Germans in the final
In the SX2, Preston Boespflug (USA) was delighted to be awarded the title of “Prince of Stuttgart”. The US boy showed the most consistent performance of the weekend, finishing second on Friday and third on Saturday. The Kawasaki driver himself was somewhat surprised by his success: “I actually came here to go on holiday and have fun. Now I’ve won.” In the overall ranking, he left the French Calvin Fonvieille (final winner on Saturday) and Brice Maylin behind him. After his victory the day before, Maylin had a tough evening on Saturday. He was in second place until the 14th lap and had every reason to hope to be crowned prince. But a technical defect caused him to fall far back to sixth place – his dream of the title was shattered.
Koch had a fantastic weekend, Bloy had a handicap
The 40th ADAC Supercross Stuttgart went much better for Nico Koch (Braunschweig). After fourth place the day before, the KTM rider rode like a wild horse on Saturday and finished second behind Fonvieille. He benefited from the retirement of two riders in front of him, but rewarded himself with a strong performance. "It would have been difficult on my own, that was really lucky," admitted Koch. "But I'm really happy about the weekend." For him, that meant a strong fourth place in the overall standings.
Alongside Koch, Paul Haberland and Paul Bloy represented the German colors in the SX2 final on Saturday evening. After a good start, Haberland - in second place - crashed in the seventh lap and was passed to the back of the field. Local hero Bloy had the support of the fans, but he still ran out of energy and couldn't keep up with the high pace. A foot injury that he sustained during training ahead of the ADAC Supercross Stuttgart was bothering the Biberach rider. "I couldn't give my 100 percent," said Bloy. "That's annoying, of course, even though I prepared so well."
Heart-stopping finale in the SX5 junior class: Reutlingen's Maier shows nerves of steel
In the youngest class, aged six to nine, Ben Maier celebrated first place after eight laps. The driver from 1. RMC Reutlingen secured victory in a real heart-stopping finale. Maier was in the lead for almost the entire race, with Alexander Bihlmann (MSC Schopfheim) close behind him. The two junior drivers had an exciting duel. The drama in the last lap literally tore the audience out of their seats: Bihlmann overtook Maier, but the Reutlingen driver cleverly drove in a washboard on the inside lane and regained first place shortly before the finish line. Phil Schwarz, also from 1. RMC Reutlingen, completed the podium in the SX5 class.
The SX5 will be driven on Saturday, the drivers in the SX4 class will present themselves the day before. Here Philipp Trautwein (MSC Schnaitheim) took first place, ahead of Noah Moosherr (1. RMC Reutlingen) and Daniel Nelich (MSC Walldorf Astoria).
