Adamo MX2 Overall Winner
Former World MX2 champion Andrea Adamo has started his season with a victory in the MX2 class at the Mantova international today. The Italian, who races for the Red Bull KTM Factory team finished with 1-2 results, handing him the win, ahead of Cas Valk with 6-1 scores and Valerio Lata of the HRC factory team finished second overall, with 2-3 results.
Langenfelder with the early lead in the opening race as Sasha Coenen was stuck at the start after colliding with another rider out of the gate. He got going again, but very slowly and way back in last place. Zanchi was second, then Valk, Mikula, Adamo, Reisulis, Prugnieres, Lata, Smidt and Ernecker 10th.Coenen was 33rd after one lap.
Much better conditions as the rain had stopped, but still a lot of water laying around as Langenfelder held a second or two lead over Zanchi, and Reisulis made a mistake and dropped some spots. Valk was trying to hang onto the back wheel of Zanchi but seemed to be struggling to do that.
Coenen up to 17th on lap three and the lead of Langenfelder over Valk, who had passed Zanchi was 2.5 seconds. Zanchi was 5.3 seconds bach in third, then Adamo, Mikula, Prugnieres, Lata, Mancini, Smidt, Reisulis in 10th. Zanchi a problem as he is out of the race with mechanical problems.
Valk into the lead as the young Dutchman showing brilliant speed in the mud, as Adamo dropped to second and Mikula into third place. Lata in fourth, then Prugnieres, with Sasha Coenen powering his way through the field to sit in ninth place on lap six. Langenfelder a big mistake and dropped to 12th place. Adamo looking good for the overall as his 2-2 scores will be enough for the MX2 victory.
Valk was 24 seconds ahead of Adamo, with Mikula just three seconds back on the Italian, and Lata not far behind him. Coenen amazingly into sixth place and closing up on Prugnieres in fifth place. Valk’s lead over Adamo was 29 seconds, and 41 seconds over Lata, who was third. Valk wins the moto and Adamo the overall.
